You know what caught me off guard about 2 on 7th, The Vantage? I expected just another business hotel in Rosebank, but this place actually has some serious character. It’s tucked away in this interesting spot where Bath and Tyrwhitt streets meet, and honestly, the location grows on you pretty quickly once you realize how walkable everything is from there.

The four-star rating feels about right – it’s polished without being stuffy, which I appreciate. The rooms have this modern but warm thing going on, and I mean, the beds are properly comfortable (always my first test). What I really liked was how quiet it stays despite being right in the heart of Johannesburg’s business district. The soundproofing must be decent because I barely heard the street noise, even on the lower floors. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too – not just going through the motions, but actually knew their stuff about the area. When I asked about getting to the Gautrain station, they gave me the walking route instead of just saying “take a taxi” like some places do.

Here’s the thing about staying in Rosebank though – you’re basically in the sweet spot for exploring this part of Joburg. The Zone is literally around the corner if you need to grab something, and you can walk to some really solid restaurants without dealing with the hassle of driving in the city. I actually ended up having dinner at a place the concierge recommended just two blocks away, and it was spot on. The hotel itself has a restaurant that’s surprisingly good for breakfast – nothing fancy, but they know how to make proper coffee and the food doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting under heat lamps all morning. Parking was straightforward too, which honestly is half the battle in this part of town. The whole setup just works well if you’re here for business or if you want to be close to the financial district without staying somewhere completely soulless. With an 8.6 rating from other guests, it seems like I’m not the only one who found it hits that sweet spot between professional and actually pleasant to stay at.

  Everything literally less than a block away from mamasamba,rosebank mall..didn’t use an uber even once…that’s how amazing the location is
