I mean, The Capital on the Park is this massive complex in Sandton, but once you’re up on the 30th floor in this particular unit, it’s like you’ve found this secret perch overlooking the whole city.

The apartment itself is proper spacious – and I’m not just saying that because I’ve been crammed into tiny hotel rooms before. The living area flows really nicely into the kitchen, which actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from Woolworths downstairs instead of eating out every night (your wallet will thank you, trust me). The bedroom faces north toward the Sandton skyline, and honestly, waking up to that view of the financial district never gets old. What surprised me most was how quiet it stays up there – you’d think being right in the heart of Sandton would mean constant traffic noise, but the height really insulates you from all that chaos below.

Here’s the thing about staying here that most people don’t realize until they arrive: you’re literally connected to Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square through the shopping center downstairs. I’m talking about not having to step outside if the weather’s being dramatic, which happens more often than you’d think in Joburg. The building has this whole concierge situation going on, and they’re actually helpful – not just standing around looking important. Parking is sorted in the basement, which is clutch because street parking in Sandton is basically a blood sport. The four-star rating feels about right, though the service and amenities punch above that weight class if I’m being honest. Pool area gets busy on weekends with families from other units, but weekday afternoons it’s pretty much yours. One small thing – the elevators can be slow during peak hours, but that’s kind of expected in a building this size. The location puts you within walking distance of all the major banks and offices if you’re here on business, and Johannesburg’s best restaurants are either in the connected mall or a quick Uber ride away in nearby Rosebank or Melrose Arch. It’s one of those stays where you end up feeling like a temporary local rather than just another tourist passing through.

  The apartment is stunning, well equipped and clean. Our host Buchi was very accommodating and friendly. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay and even gave my partner and I some lovely gifts on our last day which was so kind.
