The owners clearly put thought into the details – I mean, the olive theme runs throughout without being cheesy about it, and the common areas have this warm, lived-in feel that makes you want to actually hang out there instead of just rushing to your room. The breakfast spread was legitimately impressive too, with proper local touches alongside the standard fare. What really won me over though was how quiet it gets at night. Randburg can be hit or miss with noise levels, but 3rd Street stays pretty peaceful once evening hits, and the rooms are well-insulated enough that I actually got decent sleep (which, let’s be honest, doesn’t always happen when you’re traveling).

The staff genuinely seem to know the area well – not just the obvious tourist spots, but practical stuff like which routes to avoid during rush hour and where to grab good coffee nearby. Parking was straightforward, which anyone who’s dealt with Joburg will appreciate, and they’ve got that security situation sorted without making you feel like you’re staying in a fortress. I’d say the 9.6 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything just works smoothly. If you’re looking for something with character that won’t break the bank but still feels properly comfortable, this is honestly a solid choice.
