When I first pulled up to 6 On Acacia, tucked away on that quiet stretch of Acacia Road in Bedfordview, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. This four-star boutique spot sits perfectly in that sweet spot between the hustle of Johannesburg proper and the calmer suburban feel that Bedfordview is known for.

What struck me immediately was how personal everything felt. The owners – and I mean the actual owners, not some faceless management company – clearly put thought into every corner of this place. The rooms have that lived-in luxury vibe, if that makes sense. Not stuffy or over-designed, but genuinely comfortable in a way that makes you want to kick off your shoes and actually relax. I particularly loved the little touches, like the locally sourced coffee in the rooms (proper South African stuff, not that generic hotel blend) and the way they’ve decorated with pieces that actually mean something rather than just filling space.

The location is honestly brilliant for anyone who wants to experience Johannesburg without diving straight into the city center chaos. Bedfordview itself is this lovely mix of old trees and good restaurants – you can walk to some excellent local spots for dinner, and the parking situation is refreshingly stress-free compared to what you’d deal with downtown. I found myself using it as a perfect base for day trips into the city while having somewhere genuinely peaceful to return to at night. The staff seem to actually know the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward this fantastic little market I never would have found otherwise, and their restaurant recommendations were spot-on rather than the usual tourist traps. You can tell they take pride in what they’re doing here, and that makes all the difference when you’re trying to get a real feel for a place rather than just ticking boxes on a itinerary.

  I loved the peace and quiet. The staff was amazing, even offered to change my tyre. The manager was accommodating to my minor request.
  The bathroom, bedroom, closet were clean. I loved Angie and Mickaela . They contacted me in the afternoon to ask for arrival Time and she answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable to. And she responded very timely. I really appreciated it, the whole weekend actually.
  
  What could be improved: There was no microwave in our room unfortunately. It was a bit cold with no aircon or heater.

  The staff were excellent, friendly, professional and prompt. The room was great. Roomy and the bathroom was well laid out.
  
  What could be improved: It's more like a suggestion really. There was a fan in the room provided, but its plug didnt fit the sockets available. I come from a much colder climate and am used to a cooler room at night so it would have been nice to have a working fan.
