I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Alendo Apartments on Petroy Drive, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Magaliessig isn’t exactly the flashiest part of town, but you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want. This four-star spot sits in one of those quietly upscale neighborhoods where you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of constant traffic.

The apartment-style setup really works here, especially if you’re staying more than just a night or two. I mean, having a proper kitchenette changes everything – no more ordering room service breakfast or hunting for decent coffee at 6 AM. The spaces feel genuinely lived-in rather than sterile hotel-room clean, if that makes sense. My unit had these floor-to-ceiling windows that actually opened (revolutionary concept, right?), and the afternoon light was honestly pretty spectacular. The furnishings aren’t trying too hard to be trendy, which I appreciated – just comfortable, functional stuff that doesn’t make you afraid to put your feet up.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff seemed to actually know Johannesburg beyond the tourist brochure recommendations. When I mentioned wanting to find good local food that wasn’t in Sandton, the front desk guy immediately started sketching out directions to this Ethiopian place about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise. The parking situation is straightforward – covered spots that you don’t have to stress about, which anyone who’s dealt with Jo’burg will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The neighborhood itself feels safe for walking during the day, though I stuck to Ubers after dark (pretty standard for the city, honestly). There’s a Woolworths about five minutes down the road, plus a few decent restaurants within walking distance if you’re not feeling adventurous. The only minor complaint I’d have is that the Wi-Fi gets a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but it’s nothing catastrophic. Overall, it’s one of those places where you can tell someone actually thought about what travelers need rather than just checking boxes – and that 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there.

  The host is very helpful and accommodates requests promptly. The property is in a prime location. House is clean and well kept. House keeping is on point and its a best place to unwind and relax.

  The place was clean and it actually looks nicer than it is in the photos.
  Shops and places of attraction were just nearby.
  There was tight security which made us feel safe.
  Just a short walking distance to MonteCassino where my children frequently enjoyed visiting to play games etc.
  The host was very friendly and easy to approach.The cleaning team was really polite friendly and respectful.It was nice that we could cook our own meals when we didn't fancy eating out.
