Ferndale is one of those quieter pockets of Randburg that feels more residential than touristy, and that’s honestly part of the charm here.

What struck me right away was how this three-star place manages to feel more personal than a lot of the bigger hotels I’ve stayed at in the area. The guesthouse sits comfortably in what’s essentially a suburban neighborhood, which means you’re getting a real slice of how people actually live in Joburg rather than that sanitized hotel district experience. I mean, you can walk down Main Avenue in the morning and there’s this genuine neighborhood rhythm – people heading to work, local coffee spots opening up, that sort of thing. The location is actually pretty clever if you think about it – you’re close enough to get into central Johannesburg when you need to, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the constant city noise and chaos.

The guesthouse itself has that lived-in quality that either works for you or it doesn’t. I found it refreshing, honestly. The rooms aren’t trying to be Instagram-perfect, but they’re clean and comfortable, and there’s something to be said for staying somewhere that feels authentic rather than manufactured. You know what really impressed me? The staff actually seems to know the area well – like, when I asked about getting to Sandton City Centre, they gave me specific route advice that clearly came from experience, not just reading off a tourist pamphlet. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve driven around Joburg, you’ll appreciate more than you might expect. The 7.2 rating this place gets makes total sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers on what it promises without any pretense. I’d actually recommend it if you want to experience a different side of the city, especially if you’re the type of traveler who’d rather stay somewhere with character than somewhere that could be anywhere in the world.

  The staff is good and the service. What you see on the website is exactly what you get to the place. The place is near a shopping Mall called Ferndale on Republic and also near petrol stations

  Cleaners came every day to clean the facility. New towels, bedding and toilet paper was given. The staff was friendly and the front desk had a 24- hour service. There was an AC to keep the room cool
