The rooms themselves are spacious and thoughtfully put together, with those little touches that matter when you’re actually living in a space for more than one night. I’m talking about proper reading lights (finally!), enough outlets for all your devices, and windows that actually open if you prefer fresh air over air conditioning. The breakfast situation is worth mentioning too – it’s not some sad continental spread, but rather a proper cooked meal that changes daily based on what’s fresh and seasonal.

Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where Johannesburg’s energy feels accessible but not overwhelming. Buckingham Avenue itself is quiet enough that you can sleep with windows open, yet you’re minutes from the Waterfront and all the shopping and dining that comes with it. I mean, you can walk to decent coffee shops and that excellent Portuguese place around the corner – locals know the one I’m talking about. What really sealed it for me though was the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve stayed at dozens of places. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property, there’s secure parking (which honestly, you need in this area), and they provide those small amenities like adapters and umbrellas without you having to ask. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself extending your stay if you can, not because there’s nowhere else to go, but because you genuinely don’t want to leave the comfort they’ve created.

  Gavin and the team were absolutely incredible. I was well taken care of during my entire stay. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. The dogs were an added bonus, such friendly pets. The breakfast was always lovely. Even though they didn't need, I really appreciated the fact that I was upgraded to a bigger room at no added charge. The service was impeccable. Would definitely stay here again.

  Lovely setting. Really friendly welcome from Gavin and the two Dalmatians. Wonderful personal approach which made us feel right at home. The breakfasts were AMAZING.
