Walking into the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about the design here – it’s got that industrial-chic thing going on without trying too hard, which honestly fits perfectly with the whole vibe of the neighborhood.

The location on Main Street puts you right in the heart of what’s happening in Johannesburg’s arts district, and I mean that in a good way. You can literally walk to Arts on Main in about two minutes (I timed it), and there’s this great coffee shop called Living Room that becomes your morning ritual pretty quickly. The rooms themselves have these massive windows – and I mean floor-to-ceiling stuff – that look out over the city, which gets pretty spectacular around sunset. What I really appreciated was the attention to sound insulation; Maboneng can get lively, especially on weekends, but I never had trouble sleeping. The loft-style setup makes even the standard rooms feel spacious, though fair warning – if you’re not great with stairs, ask about ground floor options since some units are split-level.

Here’s what really sold me on this place: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Not just the touristy bits, but where to grab decent takeaway on a Sunday night (surprisingly tricky in this part of town), which parking spots are safest for longer stays, and honestly, they’ll tell you straight up which streets to avoid after dark. I stayed here during a busy conference week, and while the area was buzzing with energy, the hotel itself maintained this calm, almost residential feeling. The building has proper security – you need a key card for everything, including the elevator – which matters more than you might think in this part of the city. It’s the kind of place where you can leave for dinner, wander around the Fox Street galleries for a while, maybe catch something at the Bioscope, and come back feeling like you’re returning to your own stylish apartment rather than just another hotel room. The 8.4 rating honestly feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails what it’s going for.

  it was very clean and comfortable .it is what you see on the pictures. good location staff very accommodating and friendly.
  
  What could be improved: I didn't like that we could nit use the closet available as it is instead used for storing maintenance materials. I had brought a dress that needs to be hanged and jackets

  I entered a small cute door and found security at the reception area. They were nice and polite to verify my booking and give me the keys. There is good survvalience.
  
  The apartment is exactly as shown in the pictures.
  
  The kitchen area is equipped with all you need to make a meal, all nicely packed.
  
  The bathroom is very nice and I love the design.
  The water was nice and hot.
  
  The living area is also furnished well, I love the big screen TV. I got to watch YouTube. If you want to watch Netflix, you must put in your own details.
  
  Upstairs leads to the bedroom, there is a beautiful bed, a blanket to keep you warm and good storage area.
  I appreciate the light system for this part. U can turn on the light when u downstairs so u can see as u go up. Once you are upstairs, u can turn off the light right there.
  
  For one night, I got all I needed from this place.
  Beautiful, safe and secure, and most importantly, peaceful and quiet.
  
  What could be improved: The blinds kept hitting the ceiling rail, I'm thinking there was some wind coming in somewhere, but it was not annoying.
  
  I was not able to find the bin but had a plastic I could use, so all is well.
