I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to DMpire Suite on Desborough Avenue, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The neighborhood in Johannesburg has this interesting mix of residential quiet and urban energy that you don’t always find in other parts of the city. It’s actually in a pretty solid spot if you know the area – close enough to the main drags but tucked away from the constant traffic noise that can drive you crazy in some parts of Joburg.

What struck me right away was how this three-star place doesn’t try to be something it’s not, you know? The suites are genuinely spacious – I mean, you can actually spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase in a closet. The kitchen setup is surprisingly functional too, which honestly saved me a bunch of money since eating out every meal in Johannesburg adds up fast. There’s something refreshing about having proper counter space and a fridge that actually keeps things cold (you’d be amazed how many places get that wrong). The beds are comfortable enough, though I will say the pillows could be a bit firmer – but that’s probably just me being picky.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the staff actually seems to know the neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Sandton City Centre, they didn’t just hand me a generic map – they told me which streets to avoid during rush hour and mentioned the shortcut through the residential areas that cuts about fifteen minutes off the trip. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in Joburg will tell you is not a given. The whole check-in process was smooth, no drama, no hidden fees popping up at the last minute. Look, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies, but sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable place where things work properly and people treat you like a human being. The 7.4 rating makes sense to me – it delivers on what it promises without any pretense, and in a city where you can easily end up somewhere sketchy or overpriced, that’s actually worth quite a bit.

  Place is excellent , room was big and very comfortable, nice garden view , felt comfortable less than 10 minutes of checking in immediately extended my stay , quite ,secured ,peaceful and homily , great place to stay for leisure and business

  Very good location and wonderful staff Brenda!! The location is very close to my work place at Sandton. Very comfortable bed and spacious room. It's a safe and quiet area.

  It’s located in a safe and quiet neighbourhood , the bedrooms were clean and they provided extra blankets for us. One of the rooms had a sleeper couch which worked well for our group. We were able to use the kitchen in the house and we liked the garden. The staff is friendly.
  
  What could be improved: The pool wasn’t completely clean when we arrived. We didn’t get the rooms we selected on bookings.com but we appreciated the communication prior to our stay.
