The fact that they’ve managed to create this sort of forest-like atmosphere right in the heart of Sandton – I mean, you’re literally minutes from Nelson Mandela Square and all those glitzy shopping centers, but there’s something almost secluded about the property that makes you forget you’re in one of South Africa’s busiest business districts.

The four-star rating feels spot-on here, though honestly, what impressed me most was how functional everything is. These aren’t just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge thrown in the corner – the self-catering setup is actually thought out properly. Full kitchens with decent appliances, enough counter space to actually cook a meal, and they even stock basic supplies so you’re not scrambling to find a grocery store the moment you arrive. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings (the local Woolworths on Rivonia Road is just a quick drive if you need proper groceries), and it felt surprisingly natural. The housekeeping staff still comes through regularly, so you get that hotel service feel without giving up the independence of having your own space.

What really works about this place is how it sits in Sandton – you’re walking distance from the Gautrain station, which honestly saved me so much hassle getting to and from OR Tambo Airport. No dealing with crazy Johannesburg traffic or expensive airport transfers. The neighborhood itself has that upscale residential vibe, lots of jacaranda trees lining the streets (absolutely gorgeous if you’re there during blooming season around October), and it’s quiet enough that you actually get decent sleep. I was worried about noise since Sandton can get pretty hectic, but Westbrooke Drive is tucked away from the main thoroughfares. The only sounds you really hear are birds in the morning – which, coming from someone who’s stayed in hotels right on Rivonia Road before, is such a relief. Parking was never an issue either, always felt secure leaving the rental car there overnight. Look, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy lobbies or over-the-top amenities, but if you want a proper base in Sandton where you can actually live a bit like a local rather than just passing through, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

  What could be improved: When you check in to the hotel they hold a 800 rand deposit preferably in cash , then when you are checking out they inspect the room for about 10-15mins to see if anything is missing or if the bed sheets or towels have any stains then only after inspecting and thru are satisfied will they refund you the deposit …it was quite annoying having to wait for them to do this for 10-15mins
