I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Earthy and Organic, I wasn’t sure what to expect from an apartment-style place in Johannesburg. But after spending time there, I can tell you this four-star spot really lives up to its name in ways that surprised me.

The location in Oakdene Parks is actually pretty clever – you’re technically in Johannesburg but it feels more like you’ve escaped to a quieter pocket where you can actually hear birds instead of constant traffic. The apartment setup means you get a proper kitchen (which honestly saved me a fortune on eating out), and there’s something refreshing about having real space to spread out instead of being crammed into a typical hotel box. What struck me most was how they’ve managed to create this genuinely organic feel without it being all hemp curtains and crystals everywhere, you know? The materials feel natural – lots of wood and stone – but it’s done with actual style.

The service here operates more like a boutique guesthouse than a big hotel chain, which means the staff actually remember your name and preferences. I mean, that 9.4 rating doesn’t come from nowhere. The woman at check-in gave me specific recommendations for avoiding the worst traffic times (trust me, this matters in Joburg), and she was spot-on about the little Ethiopian place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise. The apartment itself was thoughtfully set up – proper blackout curtains for sleeping in, a shower with actual water pressure, and they’d stocked the kitchen with decent coffee, not the usual instant stuff. One thing that really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night, even on weekends. I was expecting typical apartment building noise, but the soundproofing is surprisingly good.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to environmental details that actually work rather than just looking good on their website. The cleaning products don’t leave that harsh chemical smell, they’ve got proper recycling sorted throughout the building, and the whole vibe feels intentionally calm rather than accidentally boring. It’s the kind of place where you might initially book for one night and end up extending your stay because it just feels… well, livable. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re looking for typical hotel amenities like room service or a concierge desk, you’ll need to adjust expectations – but honestly, the trade-off for having actual space and a more authentic experience is totally worth it.

  I am extremely satisfied with the exceptional standards of cleanliness and maintenance at 55 Oakdene Park in Johannesburg. That environment is well-managed, creating a pleasant and comfortable living or working space. The strategic location, with proximity to Southgate Mall and other amenities, adds to the convenience and appeal of the property. Overall, I highly recommend 55 Oakdene Park for its excellent facilities and prime location.

  The place was perfect for my group. The rooms were spacious and warm, the balcony was just a cherry on top for my daughter. Even though my stay was short, I enjoyed the place. It was close to our main attraction and to the shopping centres.
  
  What could be improved: There was a glitch with the security code which didn't work from day one but some of the security guys were understanding. We couldn't get hold of the host at the beginning but eventually we got in contact. A full roll of toilet paper would be nice for my next visit.
