I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Easy Stay-One Rosebank on Cradock Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard three-star setup. But you know what? Sometimes the places that don’t try too hard end up surprising you the most.

The thing about staying in Johannesburg is that location really makes or breaks your experience, and this place actually gets it right. You’re basically in the heart of Rosebank, which means you can walk to the Gautrain station in about five minutes – honestly, that alone saves you so much hassle if you’re trying to get to OR Tambo or Sandton without dealing with traffic. The Zone mall is right there too, so you’ve got everything from grocery runs to decent restaurants covered without having to venture far. I mean, there’s something to be said for being able to grab a proper coffee and pastry at Vida e Caffè downstairs when you’re jet-lagged and can’t face a big breakfast.

What struck me most was how the staff seemed to actually care about making things work for guests. The front desk guy (I think his name was Thabo) helped me sort out a taxi situation at like 6 AM without making it feel like I was ruining his morning. The rooms themselves are pretty straightforward – clean, functional, with that slightly generic hotel feel you’d expect, but the beds are surprisingly comfortable and the WiFi actually works consistently, which honestly puts it ahead of some fancier places I’ve stayed. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and the water pressure is solid (always a gamble in older Joburg buildings). One thing though – if you’re a light sleeper, maybe ask for a room facing away from the street side because Cradock Avenue can get a bit noisy during morning rush hour. The parking situation is decent too, which is huge if you’re renting a car – it’s secure underground parking, not just some sketchy street spot.

Look, this isn’t the kind of place you’d choose for a romantic getaway or anything, but for business trips or if you’re using Johannesburg as a base to explore the area, it really hits the sweet spot. The whole vibe is just… practical, I guess? No pretense, no over-the-top amenities you’ll never use, just a solid place to sleep and regroup. Plus, being this close to the Rosebank craft market means you can actually pick up some decent souvenirs without getting completely ripped off at the airport. The breakfast is nothing fancy but it’ll get you started, and honestly, with all the good food options within walking distance, you’re not going to be spending much time eating at the hotel anyway.

  It was clean and comfortable and so modern and elegant. The staff were amazing too. I loved the lighting and now the sun warmed up the whole room.

  The room was clean, comfortable, and well-decorated. The bed was cozy, and I appreciated the attention to detail in the room’s design.
  
  What could be improved: I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was incredibly frustrating. The check-in process was a complete mess. Upon arrival, I had to wait a long time before anyone even acknowledged me. Then, things only got worse, they couldn’t find the key to my room, and I ended up waiting in the reception area for over two hours.
  
  To make matters worse, the waiting area was uncomfortably cold, and I was freezing the entire time. What added to the frustration was the lack of communication. No one kept me informed about what was going on or how long it would take to resolve the issue.
  
  A warm welcome sets the tone for a stay, and unfortunately, this experience started mine off on the wrong foot. I hope the management takes steps to improve their check-in process and communication with guests.

  Excellent location few minutes walk away from Central Rosebank Zone and Mall, with restaurants and shops aplenty. New modern building, very cosy and comfortable stay at a reasonable price range.
  
  What could be improved: The surroundings are somewhat dark at night, and the walking pathway to Rosebank Zone is non lighted and very dark. Our balcony views weren't as the picture indicated, it was a construction site and noise began from the early AM. Check out at 10am is too early.
