I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Easy Stay – The Vantage Rosebank on Tyrwhitt Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like another business hotel. But you know what? This four-star place actually surprised me in all the right ways, and I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels around Johannesburg.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re trying to get things done in the city. You’re literally walking distance to Rosebank Mall (which, let’s face it, is where you’ll probably end up for dinner anyway), and the Gautrain station is close enough that you don’t need to stress about airport transfers. What I really appreciated though was how quiet it stays despite being right in the thick of things – the rooms face away from the main road noise, so you actually get decent sleep. The staff at check-in knew their stuff too, giving me the lowdown on which restaurants were worth it and which ones to skip (saved me from a terrible meal, honestly).

The rooms themselves feel more thoughtful than your typical chain hotel. I mean, they’re not going to win any design awards, but there’s decent space to spread out, the Wi-Fi actually works properly, and the shower has good pressure – you’d be amazed how many places get that wrong. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work; everything was spotless when I arrived, and they kept it that way throughout my stay. What really sold me though was the little touches – proper coffee in the room, not that instant stuff, and blackout curtains that actually block out the morning sun. The business center downstairs is handy if you need to print boarding passes or catch up on emails without huddling over your phone.

Parking is secure and included, which is a huge deal in this part of Joburg – you don’t want to be wandering around looking for street parking, especially if you’re not familiar with the area. The breakfast spread is solid without being fancy; fresh fruit, decent coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. I actually found myself chatting with other guests over breakfast, which doesn’t happen often at hotels. The whole vibe feels more relaxed and genuine than some of the stuffier places nearby. For the price point and that 8.6 rating it’s earned, Easy Stay delivers exactly what it promises – a comfortable, well-run place to stay without any unnecessary frills or attitude. If you’re coming to Johannesburg for business or just want to be centrally located without the chaos, this is honestly a smart choice.

  Fabulous location-2 minute walk to supermarket, shops, restaurants. Communication is excellent with help at the property.

  What could be improved: The bedrooms are smallish, but overall there is plenty of room. If you want air con, make sure the room you book has it, as some rooms don’t ( but I think they are being put in all rooms)
