I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to FOUR C’s Guest Units in Craighall Park, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name doesn’t exactly scream luxury, you know? But walking into this place on Hamilton Avenue completely changed my perspective. It’s tucked away in one of Johannesburg’s quieter residential pockets, and there’s something genuinely refreshing about staying somewhere that feels more like a well-appointed home than a typical hotel.

The four-star rating actually undersells what you get here – I mean, the attention to detail is pretty remarkable. Each unit has this thoughtful layout where everything just makes sense, from the full kitchen setup (perfect if you want to grab groceries from the nearby Woolworths) to the way the living spaces flow together. What really got me was how quiet it is, especially considering you’re still close enough to Sandton’s business district that you’re not completely isolated. The owner clearly knows this area well because there are all these little touches that show they understand what travelers actually need – proper workspace lighting, enough outlets in sensible places, and honestly some of the most comfortable beds I’ve encountered in South Africa.

Craighall Park itself is one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically Johannesburg without being touristy. You can walk to decent coffee shops, there’s a reliable Uber Eats network if you don’t feel like cooking, and the security situation is what you’d hope for – present but not overwhelming. I actually found myself spending more time in the unit than I planned because it’s just a pleasant place to be. The staff (well, really it feels more like hosts) seem to genuinely care about making sure everything works smoothly, which shows in those small details like actually having good water pressure and WiFi that doesn’t cut out every twenty minutes. If you’re looking for something that bridges the gap between a sterile hotel experience and the uncertainty of an Airbnb, this place nails that balance perfectly.

  I chose a place in Craighall Park because I like the location. It is safe and close to Delta Park and several restaurants. Ronel has been kind and available at all times. The cottage is huge, with a private entrance and a delicious view of the garden. Its privacy and quietness make you feel like you are in the countryside, while being in the middle of Joburg. My favourites are the huge bathroom and the fast wifi. I also appreciated the water, milk, sauces, peanut butter, and jam we found in the fridge at our arrival, it's a very nice touch.

  The place really matches its name of four C’s. Additionally, it is very private, secure and spacious. Ronel adds little unexpected fridge comforts that one wouldn’t expect in a self-catering apartment. The Four C’s is certainly good value for money, and we will visit again.
