It’s how they’ve managed to create something that feels more like a sophisticated friend’s place than a typical hotel – which honestly makes sense given the name. Tucked away on Riverside Road in Johannesburg’s Sandton district, this four-star gem sits in one of those quieter pockets where you’re close enough to all the Sandton action but far enough to actually get some sleep at night.

The architects really knew what they were doing here – I mean, having PWM’s name attached isn’t just for show. The space has this clean, contemporary feel without being cold or sterile, you know? There’s attention to detail everywhere, from the way natural light filters through the common areas to how they’ve designed the rooms to feel spacious even when they’re not massive. What I really appreciated was the parking situation – and trust me, if you’ve driven around Sandton during business hours, you’ll understand why secure, easy parking matters. The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing, which you can tell from the moment you walk in. Check-in was smooth, but more importantly, they actually knew the neighborhood when I asked about dinner recommendations.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned here. Sandton City is practically on your doorstep, but you’re also close to those great little spots along Rivonia Road that most tourists never discover. The 9.5 rating this place holds makes total sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s one of those properties where small things are done right consistently. Morning coffee tastes better when it’s served properly, the WiFi actually works throughout the building (revolutionary, I know), and the housekeeping team has this knack for timing their service when you’re out exploring rather than trying to nap. I’d say this place works particularly well if you’re in town for business but want something with more character than the usual corporate hotels, or if you’re leisure travelers who appreciate good design and don’t need a massive resort-style property. Just keep in mind it books up fairly quickly – apparently word has gotten out about this little spot, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all.
