Hadeda Hall Overview
You know what struck me first about Hadeda Hall? The name – it’s actually named after those ibis birds you see everywhere around Johannesburg, and honestly, that little local touch sets the tone for the whole place. This four-star spot on Maldon Road isn’t trying to be some massive international chain, and that’s exactly why it works so well.
Walking into the lobby, there’s this warm, almost residential feel that immediately puts you at ease. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day (which, let’s be honest, doesn’t happen everywhere), and they know the neighborhood well enough to give you proper directions, not just the touristy stuff. The rooms have this perfect balance – modern enough that everything works properly, but with enough character that you’re not sleeping in a generic box. The beds are seriously comfortable, and I mean that in the way that matters when you’ve been walking around the city all day. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re right in the mix of things. The windows actually block out the street noise, which is no small feat in this part of town.
The location thing is interesting – you’re close enough to the main action that you can easily get to Sandton or the CBD, but you’re in this quieter residential pocket where you can actually breathe a bit. There’s a decent coffee shop literally around the corner (the kind locals go to, not tourist prices), and parking is straightforward, which anyone who’s driven in Joburg will appreciate. I’ve stayed here twice now, and both times the service felt genuinely personal rather than just professional. The breakfast isn’t huge, but it’s proper – fresh fruit, good coffee, and they’ll actually cook your eggs the way you want them. With a 9.3 rating, you’d expect it to be solid, but what surprised me was how much attention they pay to the little things. Fresh towels without asking, they remember if you prefer your room serviced early or late, that sort of thing. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a guest rather than just another booking, if that makes sense.

Reviews of Hadeda Hall
A beautiful room and wonderful hosts – Niestępski from Poland – September 3, 2025 (10/10)
It was a beautiful place, very clean and well equipped. The hosts made sure we felt well taken care of, recommended an amazing neighborhood with beautiful restaurant as well as helped with getting ourselves acquainted with South Africa reality as it was our first stay over in this amazing country. Everything was unproblematic and we felt very good in the room.

Maiky was a great host and the property was beautiful. He was very generous, upgrading our room and offering to drop us off at dinner on his way to another part of town. I loved the tranquility of the back garden in Hadeda guest house.
Home away from home – Anjori from South Africa – April 20, 2025 (10/10)
Absolutely everything!! The place was beautiful and clean and so comfy. Felt like home
All I can say is that this place is absolutely magnificent!!! My son and I stayed here for a weekend and the place was immaculate and the service was incredible. The owner was even kind enough to offer the kitchen to me should my son need anything. There is a microwave and kettle in the room. The staff and owner were fabulous. I will stay no where else when I come to Johannesburg. I am actually looking forward to my next stay. Thank you guys for the most amazing experience. Truly a home away from home!

What could be improved: There was nothing I did not like.10/10 would recommend – Lizelle from South Africa – March 4, 2025 (10/10)
The owners were so accommodating and friendly and professional. We were four girls that arrived with three cars, the owner arranged extra parking to ensure all our vehicles were safe. They definitely go the extra mile to keep guests happy
What could be improved: Important Note: Below was not the owner's of the guesthouse fault, but just something I wanted to point out.
The owners arranged for a shuttle to take us to the event we were attending at FNB stadium, so that we don't have to worry about stuggling to get an uber the shuttle service let us know that his car broke down but that he arranged for someone else to pick us up in about 15 mins, we waited about an hour we tried calling but his phone was off, eventually we got an uber. As we got into the uber the shuttle service replied and said he had no signal, I informed him that we arranged an uber. He didn't ask if he must still pick us up at the event afterwards.Exceptional – Thorsten from South Africa – February 6, 2025 (10/10)
I love the sound of the Hadida birds in the morning and how much tree are around even though the place is in a city.
Excellent hospitality and value for money – Madhavan from India – February 1, 2025 (10/10)
