Hayley’s inn at village blues Overview
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name Hayley’s inn at village blues, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – it sounds more like a music venue than a place to sleep, right? But this little gem tucked away on Katherine Street in Sandton really surprised me. You know what struck me first? It’s actually in an apartment building, which I wasn’t expecting from the booking photos, but somehow that makes it feel more authentic than your typical cookie-cutter hotel experience.
The whole setup is refreshingly personal – I mean, you’re basically staying in what feels like a well-appointed apartment rather than a sterile hotel room. The four-star rating makes perfect sense once you’re inside; everything’s thoughtfully done without being fussy about it. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, which honestly can be hit or miss in Johannesburg. Being in Sandton, you’re close enough to all the business district action if that’s your thing, but the apartment unit setup means you don’t get that constant hotel corridor noise that drives me crazy when I’m trying to sleep.
The location actually works better than I thought it would – Katherine Street isn’t one of those main drags everyone talks about, but that’s sort of the point. You can walk to decent restaurants without dealing with the chaos of the super touristy spots, and there’s something nice about feeling like you’re staying in a real neighborhood rather than a hotel bubble. I noticed the check-in process is more relaxed too, probably because it’s not a massive operation with hundreds of rooms to manage. The staff actually remembers your name, which sounds small but makes a difference when you’ve been traveling for weeks. Parking was straightforward too – no circling blocks or paying premium rates just to leave your car somewhere safe. Look, it’s not going to have the marble lobbies or fancy spa services of those big chain places, but sometimes you just want a comfortable, clean place to sleep that doesn’t feel like every other hotel room you’ve stayed in. The 8.9 rating from other guests pretty much nails it – it’s the kind of place that does the basics really well without trying to be something it’s not.
Johannesburg’s experiences offer urban adventures with skyline views, perfect for families wanting to discover daily life in this culturally diverse South African metropolis.
