What I really appreciated was how the place runs more like a well-organized guesthouse than a corporate hotel. The check-in felt personal (they actually remembered my name the next morning, which was nice), and parking was straightforward – you know how stressful that can be in Jo’burg. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality without being shabby, if that makes sense. Nothing fancy, but everything works, and the beds are actually decent – I’ve definitely paid more for worse sleep elsewhere. The common areas invite you to linger a bit, maybe chat with other travelers over coffee, though it’s quiet enough that you’re not dealing with party noise if you want to turn in early.

Here’s the thing about staying in Randburg – and this is something I wish more people realized – you’re positioned really well for exploring both the northern suburbs and getting into the city center without the premium prices of Sandton or the chaos of staying right downtown. From Issa Guest Cottage, you can grab a decent breakfast at local spots the hosts will point you toward (they know the area), and you’re not fighting tourist crowds every time you step outside. The 7.2 rating feels about right to me – it’s solidly good without being extraordinary, and honestly, that consistency is exactly what you want when you’re using a place as your base for exploring. I’d definitely stay again, particularly if I wanted that neighborhood feel while still having easy access to everything Johannesburg has to offer.

  The place was quiet and the host was welcoming and friendly as well.
  
  What could be improved: We spent almost 5 minutes trying to locate the house even though we were already at the street. The house has no marking or clear sign that it is a guest house. We spent a lot of time trying to call the host and we rosrted to hooting infront of the gate and the neighbors woke up and they called the security on us… The host only opened later after several attempts to try accessing the property.
