I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Jade apartments on Lower Road, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The building has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, but once you’re inside, you get it. This four-star spot sits right in the heart of Sandton, and I mean properly in the thick of things – you can literally walk to Nelson Mandela Square in about ten minutes, which is gold if you’re here for business meetings or just want to grab dinner without dealing with Johannesburg traffic.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious, and I actually mean that. You know how hotel photos can be misleading? Well, these rooms are genuinely roomy with proper kitchenettes that you’ll actually use. I stayed for a week last month, and honestly, being able to make coffee the way I like it in the morning made such a difference. The Wi-Fi is solid too – I was video calling clients without any of those awkward frozen-face moments. What really struck me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re literally surrounded by the Sandton business district. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional car, but it’s nothing like staying closer to the M1 highway where the noise never stops.

The staff here get it right without being overly fussy about everything. Check-in was smooth, they actually knew my name when I walked in, and when I mentioned I needed somewhere decent for breakfast meetings, they pointed me toward Vie – this little spot just two blocks over that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking is secure underground, which matters more than you’d think in this area, and you don’t have to stress about leaving your rental car on the street. The building attracts a mix of business travelers and longer-stay visitors, so there’s this calm, professional vibe without feeling sterile. I noticed they keep the common areas clean without that overwhelming bleach smell some places have. What really sold me was the location – you’re close enough to walk to the Gautrain station when you need to get to OR Tambo airport, but far enough from the main Rivonia Road chaos that you can actually think clearly. It’s that sweet spot where you feel connected to everything Sandton offers without being right in the middle of the madness.

  The location of the property. You’re able to access all of the major shops or tourist attractions. If not, you can always take the Gautrain which is only a few minutes away.
  Another positive is the cleanliness of the property.

  The apartment was clean and host quite responsive. The rooms are spacious and since my daughter and l prefer taking a shower when in a hurry, l loved the fact that both bathrooms had showers so did not have to wait for each other

  Really lovely place, elegant simplicity. Love the amenities to make life easy. Nice for a long stay and a full family.

  What could be improved: Indoor heating was always on. Some form of Air-conditioning could be put in to help cool the place, but we had the windows open and it was OK.
