I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Kami kuKakho: Stunning, secure 2 bed apartment in Bryanston, Sandton, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But after spending a few nights there, I get why they chose such a distinctive name (kami kuKakho means “our place” in Zulu, which actually feels quite fitting). This four-star apartment sits right in the heart of Bryanston, and you know what? The location really grows on you once you understand the neighborhood dynamics.

Bryanston isn’t your typical tourist zone – it’s more of a residential area where actual Johannesburg locals live, which I mean, has its perks. You’re about ten minutes from Sandton’s business district, but without all that corporate hotel sterility. The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than show-home perfect, and honestly, that works in its favor. The two bedrooms are genuinely spacious (not just “spacious for South Africa” spacious), and the security setup is thorough without being oppressive – there’s proper access control and you’ll sleep well knowing you’re in a safe complex. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to cook, which is refreshing since so many places just give you a sad little kitchenette and call it a day.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings, especially compared to the constant hum you get in central Sandton. You can walk to a few decent restaurants along Libertas Road, and there’s a Woolworths nearby for groceries, though you’ll probably want to drive or Uber for most things. The parking situation is sorted, which anyone who’s dealt with Johannesburg will tell you is not a given. The whole setup feels like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than checking into another anonymous hotel room – the furnishings have character, the Wi-Fi actually works consistently, and check-in was surprisingly smooth. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the shower pressure could be better, but for the price point and the genuine sense of being in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble, it delivers on what matters most.

  Kids loved the pool and the little garden! We had everything we needed, washing machine and lines were a bonus. There was 2parking bays which was helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Bathroom needed some attention- black mold on ceiling needs to be sorted. Cutlery missing- only 2teaspoons and 2mugs. The doors locks need to be fixed- left everything unlocked, but there were huge security gates so didn’t feel unsafe.

  What could be improved: The place was so unclean …I spent Sunday cleaning up instead of relaxing…it looked like it hasn't had a good mop in a very very long time…otherwise it is a beautiful space just needs a proper clean up from time to time …main bedroom missing one light and ran cold water
