My unit had this open-plan kitchen that was actually functional (not just for show), and the living area had enough space to spread out properly. The Wi-Fi was solid, which honestly matters more than people admit when you’re trying to get work done or just stay connected. What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night – even with Hood Avenue being a fairly busy street during the day, the soundproofing is decent enough that traffic noise doesn’t really bother you. The beds are comfortable too, though I’d say the pillows could use an upgrade if I’m being picky.
Here’s what makes this place work well for travelers: you’re about fifteen minutes from Sandton City if you need serious shopping or business meetings, but you’re also close enough to some great local spots that most tourists never find. There’s this fantastic Ethiopian restaurant just a few blocks away that the front desk staff actually recommended – that kind of local knowledge makes a difference. Parking is secure and included, which anyone who’s dealt with Joburg parking will tell you is a blessing. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well and can point you toward things like reliable taxi services or which grocery stores nearby have the best selection. Check-in was smooth, and they were flexible about timing, which I appreciated after a long flight. It’s not luxury by any means, but for the price point and the genuine comfort level, KMG Apartments delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.

• 24/7 live security and surveillance; I felt VERY safe in the building. Also a safe neighborhood; I walked after dark from Rosebank Mall, no concern and I'm a solo female traveler.
• The apartment was super clean and the housekeeping staff very nice and attentive. All new appliances; excellent washing machine.
• The management is also very attentive and responsive to messages and questions.
• Many restaurants within 5 or less min walk and Rosebank Mall just 10 mins up the street with 4 groceries, train/bus station, and The Zone with even more restaurants and a FlexiStore if you want to store luggage while exploring other countries.

• It can get a little noisy with street noise and other guests. However, since the noise was primarily from the hallway, not much disturbance in the bedroom, even without closing that door.
• The bathroom is not wheelchair accessible due to the position of the door in relation to the bath tub; you can see this in the photos. It was not an issue for me personally; however, I've worked with the disabled; therefore I stay aware regarding these issues.
