I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Little Tuscany Boutique Hotel on Queens Road, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the name. But you know what? This four-star gem actually delivers on that Italian promise in the most unexpected way, right here in Bryanston.

The thing that struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to create this intimate, almost residential feel despite being in one of Johannesburg’s busiest business districts. I mean, you’re literally minutes from Sandton City and all those gleaming office towers, but once you’re inside, there’s this calm that settles over you. The rooms have this warm, earthy palette that actually does remind you of Tuscan countryside – not in a cheesy theme park way, but more like someone who really loves Italy designed their dream guesthouse. The staff genuinely seems to know each guest by name, which is refreshing when you’re used to those massive chain hotels where you’re just another keycard.

What I really appreciated was the attention to details that most places overlook. The coffee – and I’m picky about my morning coffee – is actually good. Not just hotel lobby decent, but properly good. They’ve got secure parking (which, let’s be real, matters in this part of town), and the rooms are properly soundproofed so you don’t hear every conversation in the hallway. I stayed during a particularly busy conference season, and while the Sandton area was absolutely hectic, the hotel felt like this quiet pocket where you could actually decompress. The breakfast setup is more intimate than buffet-style chaos – they’ll make your eggs exactly how you want them, and there’s always fresh fruit that actually tastes like it was picked recently. One small thing that stood out: the Wi-Fi actually works consistently, even during peak hours when everyone’s online. You’d be surprised how rare that is, even at places charging twice as much. The location puts you within walking distance of some really solid restaurants too – there’s this little Ethiopian place just a few blocks away that the concierge recommended, and honestly, it was one of the best meals I had during my entire stay in the area. Little Tuscany isn’t trying to be the flashiest option in Sandton, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
