Harrogate’s one of those Joburg neighborhoods that’s quietly gotten its act together over the past few years, and you’re close enough to the main action without dealing with the chaos of the city center. What I really appreciated was the loft-style rooms – they’ve got these high ceilings that make the space feel way bigger than you’d expect, and the exposed brick walls give it this authentic urban feel that doesn’t try too hard. The parking situation is solid too, which anyone who’s driven around Joburg will tell you is half the battle won right there.

Here’s the thing that impressed me most: the attention to detail feels genuine rather than manufactured. The industrial fixtures actually work with the space instead of looking like someone just slapped some pipes on the wall and called it trendy. My room had this great little seating area by the window where you could actually sit with coffee in the morning and watch the neighborhood wake up – there’s something oddly satisfying about that.
