I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Luxury Apartments West Point Sandton on Grayston Drive, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a three-star place in this part of Sandton. You know how it is with apartment-style hotels, they can either be brilliant or feel like you’re crashing in someone’s half-furnished spare room. But this one actually surprised me in a good way.

The location is what really makes this place work. I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from Sandton City – I could see the shopping center from my window – and the Gautrain station is close enough that you can hear the trains if you listen for them, but not so close that they’ll wake you up at night. What I loved is that you can walk to so many places from here, which honestly saves you a fortune on Uber rides if you’re planning to explore the financial district or grab dinner at one of those upscale places in Nelson Mandela Square. The parking situation is decent too, which anyone who’s driven around Johannesburg will tell you is not something to take for granted.

The apartments themselves have this sort of lived-in comfort that I actually preferred to some of the stuffier hotels I’ve stayed at in the area. My unit had a proper kitchen – not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation – so I could actually make coffee the way I like it in the morning and store leftovers from those massive South African portions you get at restaurants. The furnishing is contemporary but not trying too hard, if that makes sense. Nothing fancy, but everything worked and felt clean. I did notice the Wi-Fi could be a bit patchy in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but during the day it was fine for work calls. The staff at reception were genuinely helpful too – they gave me proper directions to places instead of just pointing vaguely down the street, and when I needed to extend my stay by a night, they sorted it out without any drama. You know what really won me over though? The fact that it feels like you’re actually living in Sandton rather than just passing through in a hotel bubble. There’s something to be said for having your own space to spread out, especially if you’re staying for more than just a quick business trip.

  What could be improved: The service was poor, very poor. We were supposed to be there around 2. Then the called us saying the room will only be available around 5 . We waited till 5 then When we got there we were told that our room is nolonger available. It was already late and cold. We ask them to refund us so we could get a place to sleep somewhere they refused said the immediate refund won't be done unless we get less of the price we paid. The service was really bad, actually terrible. Later they offered us to Pay more amount so that they can get us another room.n we did coz it was already late. I had a terrible experience with them.
