You know what caught me off guard about Luxury Apartments West Point Sandton 2? It’s actually way more residential than I expected – in the best possible way. Tucked on Grayston Drive, you’re basically living like a local in one of Johannesburg’s most happening neighborhoods, but with all the perks of a proper four-star setup.

I mean, the apartment-style layout makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. You get a proper kitchen (honestly, after weeks of hotel breakfast buffets, being able to make my own coffee was everything), separate living areas, and enough space to actually unpack your suitcase. The building itself has this sleek, modern vibe – lots of glass and clean lines – but it doesn’t feel cold or corporate like some of those big chain places. What really sold me though was stepping out onto Grayston Drive in the morning. You’re literally walking distance from Nelson Mandela Square, which I know sounds touristy, but hear me out – it’s where all the good restaurants are, plus that massive Sandton City mall when you need to grab something. The Gautrain station is right there too, so getting to OR Tambo airport is actually stress-free, no traffic nightmares.

The staff really knows their stuff about the area – they steered me toward this incredible Ethiopian place just a few blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking was surprisingly easy (and secure, which matters in Sandton), and the whole check-in process felt more like being welcomed into an upscale apartment building than processed through a hotel machine. Sure, it’s not the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, and the elevator can be a bit slow during busy times, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on actually being livable rather than just Instagram-worthy. Plus, with that 8.6 rating, clearly other travelers are picking up on the same vibe – it’s the kind of spot where you can actually settle in and explore Johannesburg properly, rather than just surviving another business trip.
