The location is actually pretty solid if you know Johannesburg – you’re right in the thick of Sandton’s business district, which means during weekdays it’s buzzing with that corporate energy, but weekends? It gets surprisingly quiet. I mean, you can literally walk to some decent restaurants without dealing with the usual Joburg traffic nightmare, and that’s saying something. The rooms themselves are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable enough and the air conditioning works properly (crucial during those sweltering summer months). What really surprised me was that view they keep talking about – from the higher floors, you actually do get a decent look across the city, especially at sunset when everything gets bathed in that golden light that makes even concrete look beautiful.

Now, I won’t sugarcoat it – this isn’t luxury in the traditional sense. The lobby’s a bit dated, and sometimes the elevator takes its sweet time, but the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work. I remember the front desk guy giving me actual useful directions to avoid the construction on Rivonia Road, not just the generic “turn left and you’ll find it” nonsense you usually get. Parking can be a bit tight during business hours since you’re sharing the area with office workers, but evenings and weekends it’s fine. The breakfast is pretty standard continental fare – nothing to write home about, but the coffee’s decent and they keep everything well-stocked. What I appreciated most was how quiet the rooms are considering you’re in the middle of everything – whoever designed the soundproofing knew what they were doing. If you’re looking for a straightforward place to crash in Sandton without breaking the bank, and you’re not expecting marble bathrooms and concierge service, this could work for you. Just manage your expectations around that “luxury” part of the name, and you might be pleasantly surprised.
