I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Luxury Masingita towers 9th floor apartment, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a three-star place in Sandton. But you know what? Sometimes these residential-style accommodations surprise you in ways the big chain hotels don’t.

The location on West Road South is actually pretty smart if you know Johannesburg well. You’re essentially in the heart of Sandton’s business district, which means during the week it’s buzzing with that corporate energy, but weekends get surprisingly quiet – almost eerily so, actually. I mean, you can literally walk to Sandton City Mall in about eight minutes, and Nelson Mandela Square is right there too. The thing about being on the 9th floor is you get these decent views over the city, especially if you snag a unit facing east – you can see the sprawl stretching toward OR Tambo on clear days.

What I really appreciated was how it feels more like staying in someone’s actual apartment than a sterile hotel room. The kitchen setup is proper too, not just some tiny kitchenette – I’m talking full-size fridge, decent counter space. That’s gold when you’re tired of restaurant meals and just want to grab groceries from Woolworths downstairs and make your own breakfast. The building itself has that modern Sandton look, all glass and steel, though honestly the lobby could use a bit more personality. Security is tight, which you definitely want in this area – they actually check IDs and log visitors, none of this casual walk-through business. Parking can be a bit of a dance during peak hours since you’re sharing the garage with office workers, but evenings and weekends it’s fine.

The apartment itself was clean and functional, though don’t expect luxury finishes despite the name – it’s more like a comfortable middle-tier place that does the job well. The Wi-Fi actually works properly, which isn’t always a given in Joburg, and the water pressure is decent. I did notice some traffic noise from the street below, but it’s that urban hum you get used to pretty quickly. Air conditioning works well too, which you’ll need during those brutal Highveld summer afternoons. The building management seems on top of things – when I had a minor issue with the TV remote, someone was up within twenty minutes to sort it out.

Here’s the thing though – this spot really works if you’re in town for business or if you want to be walking distance from Sandton’s main attractions without paying Sandton hotel prices. The Gautrain station is literally a seven-minute walk, so getting to the airport or into the city center is dead easy. And unlike some of those massive hotel complexes, you’re not fighting crowds for elevators or waiting in line for anything. It’s got that residential vibe where you can actually relax and spread out a bit. Just don’t come expecting resort-style amenities – there’s no pool or gym, and room service isn’t really a thing. But for the price point and that central Sandton location? It actually makes a lot of sense.

  At the exit gate they didn’t check if we’re the same people who went in with the car. I expected them to come with the device and check our license if we registered the car we were going out with. This shows that there’s no proper security, our cars can be stolen because anyone can go out with any car.
