Finding secure parking in Maboneng can be a nightmare, especially if you’re not familiar with the area. Having that guaranteed spot takes away so much stress when you’re exploring the neighborhood. The loft itself is surprisingly spacious, with these massive windows that flood the place with light during the day. I loved watching the street come alive in the mornings from up there. The WiFi actually works well too (I was working remotely part of the time), which isn’t always a given in some parts of Joburg. The four-star rating feels about right – it’s got character and solid amenities without being pretentious about it.

The location puts you right in the heart of everything that makes Maboneng interesting. You’re literally steps from some great galleries and that Sunday market everyone talks about. I found myself just wandering down to grab coffee and ending up in conversations with local artists – that’s the kind of neighborhood energy you can’t fake. The building itself has good security, which gave me peace of mind, and the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. Sure, the industrial aesthetic means it can get a bit echo-y, and the elevator is one of those old-school ones that takes its sweet time, but these feel like minor quirks rather than real problems. If you’re looking for cookie-cutter hotel luxury, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to actually experience Johannesburg’s creative scene while having a comfortable, well-connected base, this loft delivers in ways that surprised me.

  This is one of the most lux and minimalist BnB in the area. I enjoy the mini city buzz, accessibility to a lot of cafes if you are there to work, it’s really nice just going downstairs to change environments.
