The location on Armagh Road is honestly perfect if you want to experience Johannesburg without the chaos. Parkview itself is this lovely residential area that most tourists completely miss – tree-lined streets, actual sidewalks you can walk on safely, and you’re still close enough to Rosebank and Sandton that nothing feels far away. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Jo’burg will appreciate. I actually found myself taking evening walks around the neighborhood, something I rarely do in South African cities, but Parkview has this calm, almost suburban vibe that just works.

What really sets this place apart though – and maybe why it’s sitting at that impressive 9.1 rating – is how they’ve nailed the details without being fussy about it. The rooms feel genuinely spacious (not just “spacious for a boutique hotel”), and there’s this attention to lighting that makes everything feel warm rather than clinical. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well too; when I asked about avoiding traffic to get to Constitution Hill, the front desk guy gave me this local route that saved me probably 30 minutes. It’s that kind of insider knowledge you just don’t get at the big chain places. Honestly, the whole experience feels more like staying with locals who happen to run a really well-organized guesthouse than checking into a standard hotel. The breakfast setup is relaxed but thorough, and they actually stock local coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. If you’re looking for something with personality that still delivers on comfort – and you don’t need to be right in the middle of the business district madness – this spot in Parkview really delivers.

Johannesburg travel planning should be done early, especially during peak season when the city hosts internationally celebrated events and festivals in Newtown and other iconic cultural districts.

  The apartment is very spacious with a comfortable lounge area, a dining table and a well-equipped kitchen. Since it can become quite cold at night, there were 2 portable heaters to warm up the rooms if needed (the AC was broken). The complimentary breakfast supplies and wine bottle were really appreciated. The neighborhood is very peaceful and the instructions to get to the apartment were perfectly clear.
  
  What could be improved: The gas tank from the portable heater was empty, but the staff changed it right away so we were able to use it in the end.
  It would be nice to have access to alternative milk (oat, almond) in addition to cow milk.
