I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Marley on Katherine Apartments on Katherine Street, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. It’s tucked into this busy stretch of Sandton, and you know how that area can be a bit overwhelming with all the construction and traffic. But once you’re actually inside, there’s this surprisingly calm vibe that I really didn’t see coming.

The thing about this three-star place is that it gets the apartment-style accommodation thing right without trying to be something it’s not. I mean, you’ve got proper kitchen facilities in your room – not just those sad little coffee makers most hotels throw in – so you can actually cook if you want to avoid eating out every night in Johannesburg. The kitchens are well-equipped too, which honestly saved me quite a bit of money during my stay. The rooms themselves are spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re living in a shoebox, and there’s decent natural light coming through the windows. Nothing fancy, but it works.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the middle of Sandton’s business district. You’d think with all the office buildings and restaurants around you’d hear traffic constantly, but the building seems to block most of that out pretty well. Parking was straightforward too – they’ve got secure spots available, which is honestly a relief because street parking in that area can be a bit sketchy after dark. The staff at reception were genuinely helpful when I had questions about getting around, and they knew the local area well enough to give solid recommendations for restaurants and where to catch reliable transport. Check-in was smooth, no weird delays or paperwork drama. I actually ended up extending my stay by a couple of days because it felt comfortable and practical – sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re traveling for work or just want a base to explore the city without all the hotel fuss.

  Very specious and accomodative to the self catered apartment
  
  What could be improved: We had problem with communication at first from Security as arrival and the landlord not being upfront with water shortage or limits in Sandton . We wanted to change booking and not stay there no longer as no means was arranged or inform for water but that was just a half a day and the night before but it was resolved . Suggestion the landlord of unit must speak to body corp for emergency supplier of water as this in recurring problem to Sandton and braoder gauteng Electricity and water problem so no one wants to pay so much to stay short without these supplier its inconvienancing stay

  What could be improved: A reception is needed.Its good to check in and find a human face welcoming you.Yes there is lady who meet me but there is no reception.That is bad.You feel lost.Also the TV is a little difficult for us.I don't like Netflix with all its horror movies,Some of us need news and lots of news.Channels such as Al Jazeera,even though appearing on Netflix is not enough.Put some accessible and newsworthy channels there.We want to know what goes on in the world.Television channels where you don't need to log in to view content is needed.The lady told me the Netflix thing is for young people,well I am not young and I need news.Lets all age groups be catered for.
