I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Masingita Towers Suite on West Road South, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The building has this sort of understated presence that doesn’t scream “look at me,” but once you’re inside, you realize that’s actually part of its charm. It’s one of those three-star places that punches above its weight, especially if you’re looking for something more residential than your typical hotel experience.

The location is what really sold me on this place. You’re right in the heart of Sandton, which means you can actually walk to places – something that’s not always a given in Johannesburg. I found myself strolling to nearby restaurants for dinner instead of dealing with the whole taxi situation every night. The suites themselves are surprisingly spacious, and I mean actually spacious, not just “spacious for a hotel room.” The kitchenette situation is clutch if you’re staying for more than a few days – there’s something oddly satisfying about making your morning coffee instead of waiting in line at some overpriced hotel café. The furnishing is clean and modern without being sterile, though I will say the Wi-Fi can be a bit temperamental on the higher floors (I was on the 8th and had to reset it a couple times).

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re surrounded by the Sandton business district. The staff genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, and when I had a question about local transport options, the front desk guy actually drew me a little map instead of just pointing vaguely in a direction. The parking situation is secure, which honestly gave me peace of mind since I was driving a rental car around the city. You know what surprised me most? The little touches that make it feel less corporate – like how housekeeping left these small wrapped chocolates that were actually good, not just generic hotel candy. It’s not going to blow you away with luxury amenities, but for the price point and location, Masingita Towers delivers on being a solid, comfortable base for exploring Johannesburg. I’d definitely stay here again, especially for longer trips when you want that apartment-style setup without the hassle of finding a short-term rental.

  The apartment was very stylish and well situated, close to Sandton Central. Nice view and breeze from the balcony. Kitchen had everything that you would need. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, with clean sheets.
  
  What could be improved: The place had portable aircons that leaked and the exhaust pipe was broken so couldn't use them. Blinds have not been cleaned. No coffee, milk or sugar. TV only had free youtube. There are only two lifts that have to service the whole building.
