The location is really what makes this work – you’re right in the heart of Randburg, which means you can actually walk to Brightwater Commons for dinner or shopping without dealing with Johannesburg’s notorious traffic (trust me, that’s a blessing). I mean, being able to grab a decent meal at Cappello or catch a movie without getting back in the car? That’s worth something. The hotel itself sits on a busy corner, so there’s a bit of street noise if you’re a light sleeper, but honestly, it dies down after about 10 PM. The front desk staff were genuinely helpful – not just going through the motions – and check-in was surprisingly smooth even though I arrived during what seemed like their busy period on a Thursday evening.

What I really appreciated was how the place felt authentic rather than trying too hard to be something it’s not. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, with that slightly dated but comfortable vibe that actually makes you feel more at home than some of those sterile chain hotels. The bathroom was spotless, decent water pressure (which can be hit or miss in Johannesburg), and they’d clearly put some thought into the little touches – good lighting for actually reading, enough outlets for your devices, that sort of thing. The hotel restaurant serves solid food without any pretense, and their breakfast spread is honestly better than you’d expect from a mid-range place. I found myself chatting with other guests over coffee, which doesn’t happen everywhere. Parking was secure and free, which anyone who’s dealt with Joburg will tell you is not something to take for granted. The pool area is small but well-kept, perfect for a quick dip after a long day exploring the city. Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but if you want something reliable, well-located, and genuinely comfortable without breaking the bank, Mercure Randburg delivers exactly what it promises – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  What could be improved: The air conditioner was really noisy I couldnt sleep with it on. So I ended up freezing at night. There were several guests who arrived at their rooms quite late and very noisy. Took me up a few times. The shower design is impractical. The room didn't have any two pin plug points but the staff graciously lent me an adapter.

  What could be improved: You need to replace the air conditioners. House keeping staff sometimes are moody when we ask for coffee, sugar, even the iron. They brought us an iron that had burnt some stuff. I asked them why cant they clean it with steel wool but they ignored me. Also there was water cut. I had to go to church on the 29 June without a bath. On arrival here in Botswana i miss my cellphone. Its a Samsung A model. I called the Hotel but they say they did not find anything. My wife also miss a black trouser but we dont know where we lost them…Otherwise i like my stay with Mercure

  The location was perfect, close to where we needed to be, and on the doorstep of a mall.
  Staff was very fiendly. The food was great, although a tad bit expensive.
  The airport shuttle service was superb, and Brandon was very professional.
  We will definitely make use of the facilities again when in the area.
