I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Michelangelo Towers 0801, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a residential-style hotel in Sandton. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. Located right on Maude Street, you’re literally in the heart of Johannesburg’s business district, which sounds intimidating but is actually pretty convenient once you get your bearings. The building itself has this solid, no-nonsense feel to it – not flashy, but definitely well-maintained with that kind of understated elegance you don’t always find in five-star properties.

What really struck me was how spacious everything feels here. The apartments (because that’s essentially what they are) give you way more room to breathe than your typical hotel setup. I mean, having an actual kitchen and separate living area makes such a difference when you’re staying for more than just a night or two. The furnishings are contemporary without being cold – think clean lines and neutral tones that don’t make you feel like you’re living in a showroom. The views from the upper floors are honestly spectacular, especially if you catch the sunset over the Johannesburg skyline. There’s something about watching the city light up from your window that makes you feel like you’re really experiencing the place, not just passing through.

The service here operates more like a high-end residence than a traditional hotel – which took me a day to adjust to, but I actually came to prefer it. The staff knows what they’re doing without being overly formal about it, and parking is straightforward (thank goodness, because navigating Sandton can be a bit of a maze if you’re not familiar). You’re walking distance from Nelson Mandela Square if you want to grab dinner or do some shopping, and honestly, the location puts you right where things are happening without the chaos you might expect. The neighborhood does get quiet in the evenings and weekends since it’s primarily a business area, which some people love and others find a bit too subdued. Personally, I appreciated having a peaceful base to return to after exploring the more vibrant parts of the city. It’s the kind of place where you feel settled rather than just staying overnight, and for a longer visit to Johannesburg, that makes all the difference.

  Perfect location everything is around the mall. You don't have to go out it has an entrance to the mall which is my favorite. I was with my teenage boys they going in and to the without me being worried.

  We got our own breakfast which was super convenient with a 5 minute walk into the mall to our favourite deli to get freshly backed croissants.

  The location of unit within the towers is superb. Next to the spa, pool, and the gym. There’s an outdoor pool as well as a heated indoor pool. The location of the hotel itself is close to all amenities.
  The private outdoor terrace overlooking Sandton city creates the ultimate spot for breakfast with the family.
