I’ll be honest – when I first walked into NH Johannesburg Sandton, I wasn’t expecting much from another business hotel. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels authentically South African without trying too hard, and you can tell they’ve put real thought into the details rather than just copying some corporate template.

What really won me over was the location on Rivonia Road – I mean, you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters in Johannesburg’s financial district, but it doesn’t feel sterile like some of those glass tower hotels. You can walk to Nelson Mandela Square in about ten minutes (though honestly, the sidewalks can be a bit sketchy after dark, so grab an Uber), and Sandton City is right there when you need proper shopping or just want to escape the hotel bubble for a while. The five-star rating isn’t just marketing fluff either – the rooms are genuinely spacious with those floor-to-ceiling windows that give you proper views of the Sandton skyline, and the beds are exactly what you want after a long day of meetings or sightseeing.

You know what impressed me most? The staff actually seem to know the city. When I asked about getting to the Apartheid Museum, the concierge didn’t just hand me a brochure – he gave me specific timing advice and even mentioned which entrance to use. The restaurant does this interesting fusion thing with local ingredients that doesn’t feel gimmicky, and their breakfast spread is honestly one of the better ones I’ve had in South Africa. The pool area is surprisingly peaceful considering you’re in the middle of one of Africa’s busiest business districts – though don’t expect much action there during the week since most guests are corporate travelers who disappear by 7 AM. Parking is secure and included, which is huge in Sandton, and the Wi-Fi actually works properly throughout the building. My only minor gripe is that the air conditioning can be a bit aggressive, but that’s probably better than the alternative during Johannesburg’s hot summer months. If you’re looking for a place that feels both international and authentically local, without the stuffiness that comes with some of the older luxury hotels in the area, this one delivers.

  It's a big nice hotel close to the Mandela 's square. There is very good breakfast. Thank you for beautiful room. You can find three drivers for city guide tour.
