You know what struck me first about No 66 Sandton Lodge? It’s tucked away on 6th Avenue in a way that feels almost residential – I mean, you’re still in the heart of Sandton, but there’s this quieter vibe that’s honestly refreshing when you’re dealing with all the business district chaos just blocks away. This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which I actually appreciated more than I expected.

The lodge has this boutique feel that’s way more personal than those massive corporate hotels you’ll find closer to Sandton City. When I checked in, the staff actually remembered my name by the second day – small thing, but it matters when you’re traveling for work or just need that human connection. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but honestly everything works properly (you’d be surprised how rare that can be). I loved that my room had this little seating area by the window where I could actually spread out my laptop and work without hunching over a tiny desk. The Wi-Fi was solid too, which let’s face it, is make-or-break these days.

What really won me over though was the location intelligence – being on 6th Avenue puts you walking distance from some great local spots that most tourists never find. There’s this amazing coffee place just two blocks down that the front desk recommended, and you can easily walk to the Gautrain station when you need to get to OR Tambo without dealing with traffic. Parking was never an issue either, which anyone who’s tried to find a spot in central Sandton will tell you is basically a miracle. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after business hours, so if you’re looking for that party-hotel atmosphere, this isn’t it – but if you want to actually sleep through the night, you’ll appreciate it. I stayed here during a particularly busy conference week and honestly, coming back to this calmer pocket of the city each evening felt like a real retreat from all the Sandton madness.

  Location is perfect and easy access to Sandton. Very safe and great for running or walking in the mornings. The Lodge is very quiet with great security. Lovely garden setting.

  The staff, they were absolute troopers, and did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The place is also very peaceful, which was that way throughout the stay.
  
  What could be improved: Minor thing really, just that upon arrival, there was a "mix up" regarding whether it was 1-2 rooms booked, which was fixed quickly.
  Also the door knob in the family room was faulty…buy was also fixed quickly.

  The stuff was friendly and available to assist. The location was perfect, and the room was cosy and comfortable.

  The place has a very homely feel and serene atmosphere, it is very cosy and quiet for those who want to get away from the city crowd and noise. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming, in particular Joseph was very very friendly and he went over and beyond to make us feel at home away from home.

  The staff was very helpful, whether it was organizing an ironing board for us or accommodating our needs for breakfast. The location was also ideal considering the proximity of the nearby Inanda Club, where we attended a wedding. The garden is beautiful and relaxing.
  
  What could be improved: Some of the facilities were slightly dilapidated, e.g. our door's locking mechanism was not functioning properly and our room was therefore not secure.
