But this little four-star place completely won me over, and I mean that. It’s tucked into one of those quieter residential streets in Johannesburg that actually feels safe to walk around, which is saying something if you know the city.

The thing about Rosebank is that it’s got this weird mix of corporate towers and artsy spots, and this hotel sits right in the sweet spot between both worlds. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Gautrain station (which is clutch if you’re flying out of OR Tambo), but you’re also close enough to the Sunday market at the Mall to hear the distant buzz on weekends. The owner – I think his name was David – actually lives nearby and you can tell he genuinely cares about the place. Check-in was smooth, none of that corporate nonsense where they try to upsell you on everything.

What really got me was the attention to small things. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out with these gorgeous local art pieces on the walls, and honestly, the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in. The air conditioning actually works properly (trust me, during Joburg’s summer months, this matters), and there’s decent water pressure in the shower. I stayed on the second floor and it was surprisingly quiet – you’d think being in the city you’d hear traffic all night, but the street is residential enough that it dies down after 9 PM. The WiFi was solid too, which I needed for work calls back home.

The breakfast spread isn’t enormous but it’s fresh and they make a proper coffee – none of that instant stuff. There’s this little courtyard area where you can sit in the morning sun, and I found myself lingering there way longer than I planned. The staff seemed to know most guests by name within a day, which creates this intimate vibe you just don’t get at the big chain hotels. Parking was straightforward and secure, which removed one major stress factor. I mean, the 9.3 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not flashy or trying too hard, it’s just genuinely well-run and comfortable. If you’re looking for something that feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a sterile hotel, and you want to be positioned perfectly for exploring both the business side and cultural side of the city, this is honestly your spot.

  The apartment itself is stunning, beautifully decorated and smells heavenly. It was a rainy weekend so we stayed indoors mostly and we had everything we needed.
  
  The security in the complex is top notch, very safe.

  It’s also within a walking distance to the gautrain station.
