After spending a few nights there, the quirky name actually makes sense because this place is all about being straightforward and unpretentious in the best possible way.

Located right on Grayston Drive in Morningside, you’re essentially in the sweet spot between Sandton’s business district madness and the more residential vibes that make Johannesburg feel livable. I mean, Grayston Drive can get pretty hectic during rush hour – the traffic is no joke – but honestly, that’s exactly what you want if you’re here for business meetings or need easy access to the Gautrain. The building itself is one of those modern apartment-style setups that Sandton does really well, and while it’s not technically a four-star in the traditional hotel sense with a grand lobby and doormen, the execution is surprisingly solid. The units feel more like well-appointed serviced apartments, which I actually prefer when I’m staying somewhere for more than just a night or two.

What really won me over was the attention to practical details that most places completely overlook. The Wi-Fi actually works consistently (I was on video calls without issues), the kitchenette has proper utensils and not just decorative nonsense, and – this might sound minor but trust me it matters – the shower pressure is excellent. You can hear some street noise from Grayston Drive, especially if you’re facing the main road, but it’s that low urban hum rather than jarring sounds, and honestly it quiets down significantly after 9 PM. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Sandton will appreciate. I also noticed they’ve clearly thought about business travelers – there are proper desk spaces with good lighting, multiple charging ports that actually work, and the kind of blackout curtains that let you sleep in after those inevitable late-night client dinners. The location puts you within walking distance of some decent coffee shops and restaurants along Rivonia Road, though I’d still recommend having a car or using ride-sharing services for getting around the broader Johannesburg area. The whole experience feels less like staying at a hotel and more like borrowing a friend’s really well-organized apartment in exactly the right neighborhood.

  Everything, cleanliness, the pool, oh my God, the heated, big pool, close proximity to Sandton city, the welcome we got from the concierge staff.

  What could be improved: The main street in front was very busy , so a bit of noise. The walls in the bathroom need a better cleaning. No hanger to dry the clothes and perhaps add a small rice cooker in the kitchen.
