The parking situation is brilliant too — they’ve got private spots right on site, which honestly saves you so much hassle in Johannesburg. No circling blocks or worrying about your car, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to relax.

The Room Experience

My room was larger than I expected, with this lovely mix of contemporary furnishings and warm African touches that didn’t feel forced or touristy. The bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. What struck me most was how quiet everything was — you’d never guess you’re in one of Africa’s busiest cities. The air conditioning runs whisper-quiet, and the windows do a fantastic job of keeping out any street noise, though honestly, Stiglingh Road is pretty peaceful anyway.

Service and Atmosphere

The staff here get it right — they’re attentive without being hovering, if you know what I mean. When I needed recommendations for dinner, they didn’t just hand me a generic tourist brochure but actually suggested places they’d personally been to. Breakfast is served in this lovely dining area that opens onto the garden, and while it’s not a massive buffet spread, everything they do serve is fresh and well-prepared. The whole place has this relaxed, residential feel that makes it easy to unwind after long days exploring Joburg or attending business meetings in Sandton.

I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something inherently romantic about the setting, especially in the evenings when the garden lighting creates this soft, intimate atmosphere. But it works just as well for business travelers who want somewhere peaceful to decompress.
