I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Rivonia One & Only, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star place tucked away in Edenburg. The address situation is a bit quirky (they moved from The Arches to 5th Avenue), but once you find it, you’re in for something pretty special. The location actually works in your favor – you’re close enough to Sandton’s business district that you can walk to meetings, but far enough from the main drag that you don’t get the constant hum of traffic that keeps you up at night.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to feel upscale without being stuffy. The lobby has this warm, contemporary vibe that doesn’t scream “corporate hotel,” and the staff genuinely seemed to remember my name after the first day – which, you know, doesn’t happen everywhere. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with actual storage space (thank you!), and the beds are the kind where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re being swallowed. I stayed on the third floor and could hear the gentle sounds of Johannesburg waking up in the morning, but nothing disruptive. The shower pressure is excellent – I mean, really excellent – which matters more than you’d think after a long day exploring the city.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to some fantastic local restaurants that tourists never find, but you’re still just a quick drive from Sandton City if you need that mall experience. Parking is straightforward and secure, which is honestly a relief in this part of town. The breakfast spread is solid without trying too hard – good coffee, fresh fruit, and they make a mean eggs benedict if you ask nicely. What impressed me most was how the place feels lived-in rather than sterile. The common areas have books people actually read, comfortable chairs that aren’t just for show, and windows that let in the kind of natural light that makes you want to linger over your morning coffee. It’s the sort of hotel where business travelers clearly return regularly, but it never feels exclusive or intimidating. With a 9.5 rating, they’re obviously doing something right, and after spending several nights there, I can see why people keep coming back.

  The breakfast selection was unbelievable!!!! The kitchen has an amazing coffee machine, also kitted out with an airfryer and washing machine. Everything you need for a few nights stay! Stunning!!! The beds and pillows are super comfy! It is safe and quiet!
  
  What could be improved: Really nothing, as everything was just amazing!!! I highly recommend everyone to stay in the beautiful, fully equipped apartment! You won't get better than this!

  We had a truly lovely stay at this beautiful and spotless guesthouse. It was also very safe and within walking distance from the shopping centre. Lilian was exceptionally kind and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Her thoughtful assistance made our visit even more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning.

  After a nightmare landing in Johannesburg our first property wasn’t fit to stay in, we booked with Lilian at the arches of Rivonia and what an absolute pleasure Lilian was, letting us check in early after booking at short notice, we arrived to a very stunning complex with friendly and helpful security, we went to the apartment to be greeted by Lilian and again very friendly and pleasant, the apartment is stunning with a very nice kitchen to cook in with a lot of appliances, from a coffee machine with coffe beans to a panini maker, beds very comfortable and clean, a nice balcony to enjoy our lunch and dinner on, we couldn’t be happier with our stay at the arches of rivonia and Lilian, the area was very safe with shops and restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance. This stay saved our holiday from being a nightmare to being an amazing trip. Would 100% recommend staying here to anyone and we will be booking to stay again in the near future.

  We had a truly wonderful stay at Lilian’s beautiful 2-bedroom apartment! From the moment we arrived, Lilian welcomed us with such warmth and kindness, immediately making us feel at home. She went above and beyond to arrange her apartment like a real "second home," with thoughtful touches everywhere that made our stay incredibly comfortable.
  
  The apartment is located in a very secure complex, so we always felt safe and at ease. The location is also fantastic—very central, with shops and restaurants just a short walk away, which made everything so convenient for us.
  
  We are especially grateful for how caring Lilian was with us and our two furbabies. She treated our pets as part of the family, showing them so much love and making sure they were just as comfortable as we were!
