Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Sandton apartment, 2 bedroom on West Road South, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a residential-style place in the heart of Sandton’s business district. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you, and this four-star setup really delivered on that front.

The thing about staying in Sandton is that you’re basically in South Africa’s version of Manhattan – all glass towers and business suits during the day, but this apartment gives you this perfect little sanctuary from all that corporate energy. The two-bedroom layout actually feels spacious (and I mean genuinely spacious, not that “cozy” nonsense hotels try to sell you), with enough room to spread out your stuff without tripping over your suitcase every five minutes. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, considering you’re literally surrounded by one of Johannesburg’s busiest commercial areas. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional taxi hooting – it’s Africa, after all – but nothing that’ll keep you up.

The kitchen situation is honestly a game-changer if you’re staying more than a couple nights. There’s something liberating about being able to grab groceries from the Woolworths down the street instead of paying hotel restaurant prices for every meal. Plus, the building itself feels secure (which, let’s face it, matters when you’re in Joburg), with proper access control and parking that doesn’t make you nervous about your rental car. The location puts you within walking distance of Sandton City mall – though “walking distance” in Sandton means you’ll probably still grab an Uber because nobody really walks around here, especially with bags. You’re also pretty well positioned for getting to other parts of the city, whether that’s heading south to Rosebank or making the trek out to Soweto for a day trip. I actually found myself using this place as a proper base rather than just somewhere to crash, which says something about how comfortable the whole setup feels once you settle in.

  The space and the decor was good, as was the location in terms of what we wanted to see and do. Definitely felt secure and like living in your own place.
  
  What could be improved: Quite noisy at night, especially over the christmas period (hard because we needed the windows open given weak aircon & fan set up). Kitchen set up could be a bet better in terms of supplies (basic salt / paper towels etc).

  The location is prime to move around in johannesburg.
  Easy uber access, good security around and in the building.
  You can only go to your floor and room by using a card and that was great foe me being with two children.
  
  What could be improved: Very busy entrance hall, due to the restaurant, depending on when you are coming back to the apartment.
  I will come to this place but not with my kids, it is a personal choice not to exposed my kids to certain dress code and intoxicated people while waiting/taking the lift.
  There is two lift and one can be for people going to the restaurant and the other one allocated to the tenants/renters.
