The lobby has this French-inspired aesthetic (hence the “Frnch” I’m guessing) with clean lines and warm lighting that immediately made me feel like I’d stepped into something more boutique than your typical three-star spot.

What really won me over though was the attention to detail – and I mean the stuff you don’t notice until you’ve stayed at enough mediocre places to appreciate when someone gets it right. The rooms are compact but cleverly designed, with these gorgeous hardwood accents and windows that actually open (rare find in Jo’burg hotels, trust me). The beds are seriously comfortable – I’m talking proper sleep quality here, not just pretty linens. The bathroom setup is modern without being sterile, and honestly, the water pressure is better than some five-star places I’ve crashed at. You’re literally walking distance from Nelson Mandela Square and all the Sandton City shopping madness, but somehow the street noise doesn’t really penetrate the rooms, which is kind of miraculous given the location.

Here’s the thing that really sets this place apart though – the staff actually seem to care about what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood well enough to give me solid restaurant recommendations (not just the tourist traps), and when I needed to extend my stay last minute, they made it happen without the usual hotel bureaucracy dance. The whole operation feels more personal than corporate, if that makes sense. Sure, you’re not getting a massive gym or room service until 2 AM, but what you do get is a genuinely well-run place that punches way above its weight class. I mean, an 8.9 rating doesn’t happen by accident – this is the kind of spot where business travelers become regulars and leisure visitors end up rebooking before they’ve even checked out. The value proposition here is honestly pretty incredible for what you’re getting in this part of town.

  What could be improved: The service was unpleasant.Rude owner .
  No regard for her customer's needs.I was so disappointed as this my 2nd booking at the place.
  The 1st one was excellent..maybe they weren't in the mood for my return.
  
  On the 1st night I slept at 3am because of the noise from next door.
  I requested for a heater and the owner responded rudely.
  
  I'm never going there again ever!!!!!!!
  
  House keeping was offered on the 3rd day whereas I request the lady to clean the room and change the linen on Monday.That wasn't done…instead I received a call from the owner inquiring about my check out.I was shocked she wasn't aware that I had for 4 nights.

  What exceptional value for money, very stylish, spacious and private, the staff were helpful and very friendly, i felt extremely safe and the host is so fabulousky accomodating. I had a great stay.
