Sandton Lodge Rivonia Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Sandton Lodge Rivonia on 12th Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a fairly understated building. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t shout about themselves from the street.
This four-star lodge sits right in the heart of Rivonia, and I mean that literally – you’re walking distance from some seriously good restaurants and that whole buzzy Rivonia Boulevard area. What struck me most was how quiet it actually gets at night, which is sort of miraculous when you consider you’re basically in the middle of Johannesburg’s business district. The rooms have this solid, comfortable feel to them, not fancy-fancy but definitely well thought out. The beds are proper comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my place back home. There’s decent parking too, which anyone who’s driven around Sandton will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The staff here really know their stuff – I asked about getting to the Gautrain station and not only did they give me perfect directions, but the guy at reception actually warned me about the construction on Rivonia Road that would have added twenty minutes to my trip. Little things like that make such a difference when you’re trying to navigate a city. The breakfast area has this relaxed vibe where you can actually think and plan your day, not like those chaotic hotel buffets where everyone’s rushing around. I spent most mornings there with my coffee, watching the jacarandas outside (if you’re visiting in October, you’re in for a treat). The lodge attracts a mix of business travelers and people like me who want to be close to Sandton without paying Sandton prices. It’s got that lived-in feeling that makes you settle in quickly – within a day or two, the evening security guard was greeting me by name, and the housekeeping team had figured out I preferred extra towels without me having to ask twice. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with flashy amenities, but sometimes what you want is a place that just works really well and lets you get on with why you came to Joburg in the first place.
Johannesburg’s experiences offer urban adventures with skyline views, perfect for families wanting to discover daily life in this culturally diverse South African metropolis.

Reviews of Sandton Lodge Rivonia
Excellent accommodation at my course venue. – Anton from South Africa – August 21, 2025 (9/10)
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff.
I was there to run a training course at the Lodge, so it was convenient to stay there.
Nicely apportioned room and nice modern bathroom
What could be improved: There was space for what I presume would have been a bar fridge under the kettle counter, but it wasn't there. Looked a little unsightly.
Would have liked foot mats at the bedsides so when getting out of bed one doesn't put feet directly onto the cold floor.Very pleasant stay – Barbara from South Africa – March 27, 2025 (8/10)

The breakfast is good. It would help if they change the options or maybe have variety. The location is great, nearby shopping centers and a few other nice spots to visit. Enjoyed my stay and wish to stay longer next time.
