Sandton Skye Apartments Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Sandton Skye Apartments on Stan Road, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star place in this part of Johannesburg. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up surprising you the most, and this one definitely did.
The thing about staying in Sandton is that you’re right in the heart of South Africa’s financial district, which means it can feel pretty corporate during the week – all suited businesspeople rushing around with their coffee and briefcases. But these apartments actually manage to feel like a proper home base rather than just another sterile hotel room. The units are properly spacious (I mean, you can actually spread out your stuff without playing Tetris with your suitcase), and they’ve got those little touches that make a difference when you’re staying more than a night or two. The kitchenettes are better equipped than I expected – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer, but actual cooking facilities if you want to grab groceries from the nearby Pick n Pay instead of eating out every meal.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re practically walking distance from Sandton City shopping center and all those gleaming office towers. The staff seem to actually know the area well too, which is refreshing – they pointed me toward this great little Ethiopian place just a few blocks away that I never would have found otherwise. Parking was straightforward, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Johannesburg will tell you is no small thing. The Wi-Fi held up fine for work calls (tested it extensively, unfortunately), and honestly, the whole setup just felt more genuine than some of those flashy five-star places where you pay double for marble floors and attitude. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with fancy lobby chandeliers or anything, but sometimes you just want a comfortable, well-run place where things work properly and you don’t feel like you’re being nickel-and-dimed for every little thing. If you’re looking for something that feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a cookie-cutter hotel room, this place hits that sweet spot.
Johannesburg travel planning should be done early, especially during peak season when the city hosts internationally celebrated events and festivals in Newtown and other iconic cultural districts.

Everything about this place was impressing..
The view, the neatness of the room, the quietness. The bed was so big and comfortable.
What could be improved: Them changing the check in time after we had agreed on something.Sorry for sounding critical, but I hope you find the suggested approvements helpful. – Marie from South Africa – December 19, 2024 (7/10)
Central to many amenities.
Love the bath tub and the super big bed.
What could be improved: The reception parking area looks poor.
I did not like the restaurant's fish smells that blow out into the underfloor parking and it's the first thing that greets you as you get out of the lift. The apartment needs curtains instead of a screen, as it lets light through on the sides, and it's starting to look old. No hairdryer. A little mat next to the bed will be nice, and neaten all the cords from the wifi system. Our fridge stopped working too. Were not able to connect to wifi. Our room number did not appear on the list of networks, and no instructions. Night one was extremely noisy with people shouting in the hallway till 1:30.
One small thing… The decor is ok too, but do plain throw pillows since it clashes with the busy paintings on the wall. Was great staying there. Safe and secure. – Thabo from South Africa – August 25, 2024 (8/10)
The restaurant is so vibrant.
What could be improved: The reception parking. No space we had to park in the dusty area thou it was temporaryVery Good – Lagnon from United States – June 18, 2024 (8/10)
