The moment you step into apartment 213/214 on Stan Road, you actually feel like you’re in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a typical hotel room. I mean, this three-star setup punches way above its weight class – honestly, I’ve stayed in supposedly fancier places that felt more sterile and impersonal than this spot.

The location is pretty brilliant if you know Johannesburg at all. Stan Road puts you right in the thick of Sandton’s business district, but here’s the thing – you’re tucked away enough that you don’t get the constant hum of traffic that plagues some of the main drag accommodations. I could actually hear birds in the morning, which seems impossible when you’re this close to all the corporate towers and shopping centers. The apartment itself feels spacious in that rare way where you can spread out your stuff without everything looking cluttered within five minutes. The kitchen setup is particularly thoughtful – I ended up cooking breakfast a couple times because, well, why not? There’s something satisfying about making your own coffee when you’re looking out at the Sandton skyline.

What really sold me though was the attention to detail that you don’t expect from a place with a 7.4 rating. The shower pressure is fantastic (and if you’ve traveled enough, you know how hit-or-miss that can be), the Wi-Fi actually works consistently, and there are enough power outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and your laptop. Small things, but they add up. The building itself feels secure without being fortress-like – important in Johannesburg, obviously – and the staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re comfortable. I had a minor issue with the air conditioning remote, and instead of the usual “we’ll look into it tomorrow” response, someone was at my door within twenty minutes with a replacement. During my stay, I walked to Nelson Mandela Square for dinner a couple times, and it’s an easy stroll even after dark if you stick to the well-lit paths. The whole Sandton City area buzzes with energy, but when you come back to Stan Road, there’s this sense of retreat that I really appreciated after long days exploring the city.

  Very clean and stylish and safe. The city view is amazing. I love the fact that they have washing machines and dryers…that was the best part of my stay 😍😍

  Airconditioner in the lounge area worked very well. Kitchen area had the necessary electrical appliances and kitchenware. The extra toilet is a plus. Two TVs with Netflix , YouTube and particularly DSTV was much appreciated. The Wifi worked very well. The view of the Sandton Skyline is fantastic particularly at night.The main bathroom is excellent. The shower worked well and I appreciated the rectangular wash basin. The access and manoeuvrability to and within the undercover carpark is easy and straightforward and so is the access to the upstairs apartment. Security is very good at the apartment block. The apartment was very quiet and peaceful.
  
  What could be improved: The air conditioner in the main bedroom didn’t really work.One of the ceiling lights wasn’t working and had the wires hanging down On my arrival the bedding was dirty and hadn’t been washed from the previous guest. When I arrived there were only two towels available. The service phone is not attached very well to the wall – it needs a new hook or two. There weren’t enough bin liners for rubbish available. The lounge couch and furniture is showing some signs of wear and tear.
