I’ll be honest, when I first pulled up to Sandton Skye Suite on Stan Road, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a three-star apartment setup in the heart of Sandton’s business district. But you know what? Sometimes these residential-style places surprise you in ways the big chain hotels don’t.

The thing about staying in unit #1303 is that you’re essentially living like a local for a few days, which I actually loved. The apartment has this lived-in feel that’s way more comfortable than your typical hotel room – proper kitchen space, enough room to spread out your stuff, and honestly, the views from up there give you a real sense of Johannesburg’s skyline. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night, which is pretty remarkable considering you’re right in the thick of Sandton’s financial hub. During the day, you can hear the city humming below, but it never felt overwhelming or intrusive.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned if you need to be around the Sandton CBD – I mean, you can literally walk to most of the major office buildings and shopping centers without breaking a sweat. The Gautrain station isn’t far either, which makes getting to OR Tambo or even into central Joburg pretty straightforward. I found myself grabbing coffee at the little spots along Rivonia Road in the mornings, and there’s something nice about feeling connected to the neighborhood rather than trapped in a hotel bubble. The building itself feels secure (important in this area), and while the amenities aren’t fancy, they’re practical – decent Wi-Fi, reliable hot water, and the kind of air conditioning that actually works when you need it most. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, but there’s an unpretentious comfort here that I found refreshing after staying in too many over-styled business hotels that charge you double for half the space.

  What could be improved: There was no soap in the apartment. There was an empty shower gel container in the shower. When I asked the host, she mentioned that they don't provide shower gel, which means the cleaning was not done properly. The hairdryer didn't work. There was no daily cleaning service. No hot water on Saturday and Sunday.

  The location was very convenient, and the building was secure. The room was also comfortable and the host very quickly responded to complaints or queries.
  
  What could be improved: The room could have been cleaner upon arrival, however, once I communicated with the host, she very quickly responded to my issue and this was sorted the next day. The shower and bathroom sink were also draining very slowly during my stay.

  The place is nice , clean ,comfortable, nice views ,restaurant amazing .
  
  What could be improved: We were not warned that there's no loadshedding back up rather their back upbis not effective, lasts for 10min after loadshedding then we out . It was difficult getting a cleaner for 3 days, kitchen appliances don't look good to use ,microwave and toaster.
