Walking in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here, which you don’t always get at this price point. The rooms are clean in that thorough way (not just surface-level tidy), and honestly, the beds are better than what I’ve found at some pricier places in Rosebank. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re close enough to the main roads that getting around is easy, but far enough from the Rivonia Road chaos that you can actually sleep. The staff seem to genuinely know the area too, which matters more than you’d think when you need directions to somewhere that’s not Sandton City Mall.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Johannesburg – you’re perfectly positioned for both business and exploring, but without the premium you’d pay for a Sandton address. I could walk to decent coffee spots in the morning (there’s this little place about five minutes away that locals actually go to), and getting to OR Tambo is straightforward without dealing with city center traffic. The parking situation is solid, which anyone who’s circled Sandton looking for a spot will appreciate. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with flashy amenities or marble lobbies, but sometimes what you want is a place that just works well – good Wi-Fi, reliable hot water, and that feeling like you’re staying somewhere that gets the basics right consistently. For the price point and the location, Sandton Stay delivers on being exactly what it says it is, which is refreshingly honest in a city where plenty of places promise more than they deliver.
