I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Sandton Sun and Towers, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another business hotel. Boy, was I wrong. This five-star place sits right at the corner of Fifth and Alice Streets, which puts you smack in the middle of everything that matters in Johannesburg’s financial district, but here’s the thing – it actually manages to feel like a proper luxury experience rather than some sterile corporate box.

The towers part of the name makes total sense once you’re there, because you’ve got these two distinct sections that somehow work together perfectly. The executive floors honestly feel like you’re staying in someone’s really expensive apartment, and the views from up there? Well, let’s just say you can see why Sandton became the economic heart of South Africa. What really got me though was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their stuff about the area – not just the touristy bits, but where to grab decent coffee at 6am or which entrance to use when the main streets get crazy during rush hour. You know what I mean, those little details that make the difference when you’re actually trying to get things done.

The pool area surprised me too, actually. You’d think being right in the business district it would be all concrete and noise, but they’ve managed to create this sort of oasis vibe where you can actually hear yourself think. I spent a good chunk of one afternoon there just watching the city buzz around below while staying completely removed from it all. The restaurant scene is solid – nothing revolutionary, but the kind of place where you can bring clients or just grab a proper meal without having to venture out into Johannesburg traffic (which, trust me, you’ll appreciate). Parking was straightforward, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but anyone who’s tried to navigate Sandton will know why I’m mentioning it. The whole experience just felt… well, effortless I guess. Like someone had thought through all the little frustrations of business travel and quietly solved them without making a big deal about it.

  Good location. Felt very safe. Direct access to the Mall next door. Clean and spacious rooms. Excellent breakfast. Relaxing outdoor area. Polite staff on reception. Happy to store our suitcases for a few hours post checkout.
