You know what struck me first about Sandton Times Square? It’s got this unexpectedly cozy vibe for a hotel sitting right in the heart of one of Johannesburg’s busiest business districts. I mean, when you’re walking up Grayston Drive with all that corporate glass and steel around you, you don’t expect to find a three-star place that actually feels like someone put thought into making guests comfortable rather than just processing them through.

The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you know Johannesburg at all. You’re literally steps from Sandton City shopping center – and I’m talking about the kind of steps where you don’t need an Uber or have to worry about walking around at night. The Gautrain station is right there too, which makes getting to and from OR Tambo so much easier than dealing with highway traffic. What I really appreciated was how quiet the rooms stay despite being in such a busy area. They’ve got decent soundproofing, and the air conditioning actually works properly – something you can’t take for granted everywhere in SA. The rooms themselves are clean and well-maintained, nothing fancy but everything you need is there and working. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building, which matters when you’re trying to get work done or just want to video call home without those awkward frozen-face moments.

The staff genuinely seem to know what they’re doing, and I noticed they remember return guests, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is pretty standard but they do a good job with the basics – fresh fruit, decent coffee, and they’ll make you eggs however you want them. The hotel restaurant stays open late enough that you can grab dinner if you’ve had one of those long Sandton workdays and can’t face going out again. Parking is secure and included, which is actually a bigger deal than it sounds – finding safe parking in this area can be expensive and stressful. I’ll be honest, it’s not the kind of place you’d choose for a romantic weekend getaway, but for business travelers or if you’re using Johannesburg as a base to explore the region, it really hits that sweet spot of being reliable, well-located, and reasonably priced. The whole experience just feels… competent, I guess? Like they know exactly what kind of hotel they are and they do it well without trying to be something they’re not.

  I did like the safety of the property, walking from the shops , my studio was upstairs with good view, the studio as everything you need , from the kitchen and watching machine , dry machine was available, towels were clean too .
  
  What could be improved: I didn't like the way i was always getting distributed from the staff everyday just because they needed to clean my studio 😒, i didn't believe what i saw , 3 to 4 cleaning ladies need to come in to my studio to check if they can clean ! The next day a guy will come and knock that they need to spray croacoch medicine in the kitchen like seriously!! Why doing it when a guest is inside !! That was terrible 😕
