The Gautrain station is nearby if you need to get to OR Tambo, and honestly, the traffic flows better here than in the heart of Sandton.

My room had this warm, lodge-like feel that you don’t often find in city accommodations — think comfortable rather than flashy. The attention to detail was what impressed me most; everything from the linens to the lighting felt thoughtfully chosen. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed throughout the night, which isn’t always a given in Johannesburg. The Wi-Fi actually worked properly (always a concern in South Africa), and there was enough space to spread out without feeling cramped.

The breakfast setup here is honestly impressive — they’ve got everything from continental options to a full English spread, plus vegetarian choices and even American-style options. I watched them accommodate different dietary needs without any fuss, which tells you something about how they operate. If you’re rushing to a meeting, they’ll even pack breakfast to go, which saved me one morning when I had an early appointment in Sandton. The quality is consistently good too — not just hotel breakfast for the sake of it, but actually worth getting up for.

• Private little Guest House in Johannesburg – Emmanuelle from Canada – September 3, 2025 (9/10)

  The Rhino Room was so comfortable and the breakfast was delicious (buffet + choice of eggs). The staff was very kind, they let me stay the whole day before my evening flight even though I should have checked-out in the morning. They offer a shuttle service from and to the airport (but it is more expensive than an Uber).

  The place was very neat and clean 👌 with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. The garden was outstanding. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of clean, fresh air.
