Tucked away on Stan Road in Sandton, this three-star spot feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel. The first time I walked in, I was struck by how quiet it was despite being right in the heart of one of Johannesburg’s busiest business districts. You know what I mean? The rooms are honestly better than I expected – clean lines, decent-sized bathrooms, and thank goodness, proper blackout curtains because the streetlights around there can be pretty bright. What really won me over though was the staff’s approach to service. They actually remember your name after the first day, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dealing with early morning meetings or late flights. The breakfast setup isn’t fancy, but they do this great egg station where the chef will chat with you about traffic conditions while making your omelet – local intel that’s worth its weight in gold if you’re trying to get to Sandton City or the financial district without hitting rush hour madness. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which anyone who’s driven around Sandton will tell you is basically a minor miracle.

Here’s the thing about this place – it sits in that sweet spot where you’re paying for solid comfort without all the bells and whistles you probably don’t need anyway. The 7.8 rating makes perfect sense to me because it delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. You’re a five-minute walk from some excellent restaurants (seriously, try the Ethiopian place around the corner), and the Gautrain station is close enough that you can actually hear the trains if you listen carefully – but not so close that it’s disruptive. I’ve stayed here during both the busy conference season and quieter summer months, and honestly, the vibe stays consistently relaxed either way. If you’re looking for marble lobbies and spa services, this isn’t your spot, but if you want a reliable base in Sandton where you can actually get some work done and sleep well, Skye Exclusive service hits that mark pretty perfectly.

  It was a great place to stay at, the interior design was absolutely amazing and the bathroom was just gorgeous and was very clean. However the only thing that was disappointing was that upon payment there was a cleaning fee added but when I got there I was told they only clean once if you’re staying at least for a week- so I didn’t understand why the cleaning fee was part of the booking fee.

  I liked the size of the room, location and amenities in the building. The fact that we had an inverter during loadshedding was a huge benefit. The bed was comfortable and the lounge area was cosy I loved everything about the unit. The wifi never gave us issues.
  
  What could be improved: I wish we had newer sponges to wash dishes. Some pots were burnt. The sheets and pillowcases could do with some updating. The quality of the toilet paper provided was not the best, could use whiter 2ply toilet paper. Very minor touches needed to make the experience extra enjoyable.
